Subaru Forester 1988

This car is a workhorse. VIC rego until 11 May 2019. A/C, clean interior, regular maintenance and lube changes, starts up first time every time. We drove the car from Melbourne to Perth in April last year. We cruised across the Nullarbor with no worries, clocking away the kms happy and carefree. A few days after arriving in Perth, we noticed it was riding a bit rough, especially in reverse. We had a mechanic check it out, and he switched the car to front wheel drive, and the problem went away. He suggested it might be the transfer solenoid. Since the end of April, for the last 9 months, we've been driving the car in front wheel drive, and it's been its old reliable self. We got a second opinion from a mechanic in December, and he thinks it needs a new gearbox. So we are unclear what is causing the rough ride when the car is in AWD. Long story short, we're hoping to find someone who will love this car for who it is, quirks and all :) We would hate to sell it for parts when it's still a solid and reliable vehicle.
